No Joy in Mudville From

COLUMBIA, S.C. — There was no joy in Mudville…Oh, wait. This is Columbia. Well there’s no joy here at Jillian’s, where the Edwards supporters continue to mill about and wait for him to speak.

With  89 percent of precincts reporting, Obama has won it while the former North Carolina Senator comes in third.

The atmosphere here isn’t somber; it’s still a bar packed with people. Some continue to hold up their signs. But it’s more calm than it was earlier, when the excitement was still building. Supporters Shawn and Kellie Miller said they chose Edwards because of his religious beliefs.

“I’ve heard a lot of people say that’s not important, but it’s extremely important in my opinion,” Kellie Miller said.

At that time, only 7 percent of precincts had reported, but no matter what Shawn Miller says he’s Edwards all the way.

“We’re holding out hope,” he said.
