RALEIGH, N.C. — Many people think Presidential elections are a popularity contest. Well, the Flying Saucer is giving local residents that chance to weigh in on the important issue: With which candidate would you rather drink a beer?
A “Beer Caucus” will take place tonight (Wednesday) at the Flying Saucer downtown.
This event is sponsored and organized by North Carolina’s beer distributors, in conjunction with National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA). The non-scientific survey begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Saucer, 328 W. Morgan St.
If you can’t make it, you can vote on the NBWA website.
According to the press release: “With all of the rigors of a campaign – attack ads, phone calls, direct mail – Americans know sometimes it just comes down to who you want to have a beer with,” said Dean Plunkett Executive Director of North Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association (NCBWWA). “We hope this campaign reminds voters that at the end of the day, while issues are very important, so is friendly conversation and good-natured debate. Having a beer with someone represents getting to know someone better, and that’s what the campaign season is all about – getting to know these candidates better.”
