RALEIGH, N.C. – Rep. Bill Daughtridge formally filed as a candidate for North Carolina State Treasurer Tuesday.  According to a press release issued by his office, all three Republican members of the Council of State joined the Daughtridge campaign team by endorsing his candidacy: Commissioner of Labor Cherie Berry, Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler and State Auditor Leslie Merritt.

Here’s Daughtridge’s statement: “I am honored to have the support of our Party leaders.  It is imperative that we focus our attention on winning in November.  There is growing concern over the state of our economy and we must have a State Treasurer who can maintain confidence and trust in our pension funds.  My career is founded in business, not government.  With the addition of these leaders to my team, I am one step closer to building the campaign needed to win for the people of North Carolina.”
