RALEIGH, N.C. — More young people seem to be signing up to vote, according to the state elections office.
Younger people don’t turn out at the polls as much as other groups, but non-official numbers kept by the State Board of Elections demonstrate that young voter registrations are up by 200 percent among unaffiliated voters.
According to the News & Observer, officials are expecting turnout to top 50 percent in the May 6 primary. North Carolina usually sees a turnout of about 30 percent in the primaries.
