HICKORY, N.C. — Despite some recent hits, Bill Clinton said his wife Hillary Rodham Clinton is staying in, the Associated Press reports.
“Everyone is saying ’shut it down now.’ That’s a bunch of bull,” Bill Clinton said at A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, one stop on his seven-city tour of North Carolina on Friday.
The two hits came Friday, as Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey Jr. endorsed Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, while another Senator, Virginia Democrat Patrick Leahy asked Clinton to drop out.
The AP reports that Bill Clinton didn’t mention names, but cautioned people who are asking Hillary Clinton to step aside too early.
“Political types have tried to kill her since the Iowa caucuses,” he said in the AP story. “But she came back anyway. … People like you kept her in the race.”
