RALEIGH, N.C. — Political candidates will descend on the Tar Heel State this weekend. Both Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, will be in town Friday, and Senator Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea have announced plans to return.

Saturday is the last day of the state’s One-Stop Early Vote period.

The Clinton campaign said Hillary will be here Friday and Saturday and Chelsea will be in NC Friday. Chelsea Clinton will host a “Campus Q & A” event at Salem College in Winston-Salem before attending a “Hillary I Know” event in Lexington. The details of Hillary’s visit have not yet been released.

Barack Obama will host a Get Out The Vote Rally in Charlotte Friday.

Obama and Clinton will also be attending the NC Democratic Party’s Jefferson-Jackson dinner Friday night in Raleigh.

Michelle Obama will host events in Durham and Asheville. The Durham event takes place at the Durham Armory, 220 Foster St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for the 12:30 p.m. event.

She will appear at UNC Asheville with Gladys Knight at the University Quad, One University Heights, at 4:30 p.m.

Both Obama events are free and open to the public, but tickets are required. The public can RSVP for either event at nc.barackobama.com to receive a free ticket via email. Tickets for the Michelle Obama Durham event can be picked up at the Obama table outside the Old Durham Ballpark on Corporation and Morris Streets from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today (Thursday).

Barack Obama’s Charlotte rally takes place at the Cricket Arena, 2700 E. Independence Blvd. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. for the 5:30 event.
