WASHINGTON (AP) – According to an Associated Press count, Barack Obama has at least 26 delegates more than he needs to lay claim to the Democratic nomination after the final two primaries.
Overall, Obama has 2,144 delegates, including superdelegates. Clinton has 1,919.5, according to the Associated Press count.
It takes 2,118 delegates to win the nomination.
Obama won at least 13 delegates in South Dakota and Montana, while Clinton won at least eight. There were still two delegates still to be allocated in South Dakota and eight in Montana.
