RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – An independent political group with ties to Democrats has started running an ad questioning Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory’s economic policies.
A group called Alliance for North Carolina began running the ad Thursday saying the Charlotte mayor opposes raising the state’s minimum wage but supports pay raises for politicians – including himself.
The 30-second spot then asks viewers to call McCrory’s Charlotte administration office.
Although the 30-second spot makes no reference to the Democratic candidate, Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue, McCrory’s campaign is calling on Perdue to ask the group to stop the negative ad.
The Democratic Governors Association has said it supports Alliance for North Carolina, the group running the ad.
