Actor Kal Penn Tours Triangle For Barack Obama From NBC17

RALEIGH, N.C. —Kal Penn, an actor on the hit TV show “House,” will be in the Triangle Sunday and Monday to mobilize students and young voters to work for Senator Barack Obama’s campaign in North Carolina.  He arrives in the Triangle after holding events in the triad on Saturday at Wake Forest University and Elon University.

Penn will speak to students at UNC and Duke about the importance of North Carolina in this year’s election.  He will also meet that evening with Raleigh-area young professionals dubbed  “Generation Obama,” at an event downtown Sunday night.  Monday morning Penn wraps up his Triangle stop at N.C. State University.

According to the campaign, this weekend is part of a nationwide “Weekend of Action” where the campaign is focusing on registering new voters, knocking on doors, and recruiting new supporters for Obama.

More than 6,000 volunteers have been talking to friends and neighbors across the state about the change Obama will bring to North Carolina.  Thursday, there were more than 100 Convention watch parties in the state.
