RALEIGH, N.C. — As of September 24, 2008, Wake County has 561,279 registered voters – 236,357 registered with the Democratic Party; 179,495 registered with the Republican Party and 145,291 registered as Unaffiliated.

The BOE is processing an additional 10,000 registrations and update forms that have been received within the last week.

Since Sept. 1, 2008, the BOE has processed the following:

New registrations – 4,986
Changes of information – 3,647
Applications with no changes — 271
Absentee ballot requests – 7,650
