DURHAM N.C. – Hundreds of Black farmers from across North Carolina are scheduled to hold a rally in support of Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign Wednesday Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center.
John W. Boyd, Jr., President and Founder of the National Black Farmers Association, will be leading the rally and addressing the farmers. Very few people know of Sen Obama’s efforts to help rural North Carolina farmers, Boyd said.
“Senator Obama has been a leader in the Senate not only working on behalf of the nation’s black farmers but also on behalf of all of the American people,” he said. “As the lead sponsor of the Black Farmer Remedy Act, he played a critical role in passing federal legislation in support of the black farmers.”
