From AP GREENVILLE, N.C. – Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin says Barack Obama’s association with a 1960s radical is a relevant issue because he hasn’t been forthright about what he knew about William Ayers’ background and when he knew it.
Palin says raising Ayers, a founder of the violent Weather Underground, speaks to Obama’s ability to tell the truth.
The Alaska governor spoke with reporters between campaign appearances Tuesday and said that if Obama can’t be straight about Ayers, how can voters believe what he tells them about taxes or other issues.
Ayers helped found the Weather Underground, whose members were blamed for several bombings when Obama was a child. Obama has denounced Ayers’ radical views and activities.

I was supporting Obama, now I’m really not sure. I keep hearing and reading about his relationships with people and countries that don’t like the U.S. I like hearing Sarah speak, If this keeps up I belive I will change my mind and vote for the McCain/Palin ticket.

Jay is obviously the only one here with any sense.
Number one, Bill Ayers was acquitted of any wrong doing and what he did do was during a time in history (the 60s) where questioning the Government and the bald faced LIES it was telling was considered PATRIOTIC!
I grew up in the 60s and the Weathermen were not considered some “terrorist” organization at the time, they were considered as a group of citizens that were fed up with the US Gov telling lies about Vietnam (Gulf of Tonkin was a false flag attack used to send in more military, and the Mai lai massacre, invasion of Laos, bombing of Hanoi etc all reasons why the Weathermen were created).
In fact if we had MORE citizens like Bill Ayers today we probably wouldn’t be in the mess we are in because we wouldn’t allow the war crimes, treason, crimes against humanity, all out theft of the national treasury that we have had the last 8 years to continue.
The REAL “terrorist”? they reside in the White House.
BTW virtually ALL of our Founding Fathers of this country would today be considered terrorist just to give you some real perspective.
Number 2, when Ayers was part of the Weathermen Obama was 8 years old and not even living in this country.
When Obama meet Ayers he was a model citizen in Chicago, a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He was actively involved in reforming public schools in Chicago and in the last 15 years has done MORE THAN ANYBODY to achieve that goal.
In fact a year after he met Obama, Ayers was named CITIZEN OF THE YEAR by the city of Chicago for his work helping lower income children.
Their only connection is that Obama was named to the Board of Directors to oversee the distribution of grants in Chicago from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge Project of which Ayers co-authored.
This so called connection to a “terrorist” that the Reich wing lunatics are desperate to spread about Obama & Ayers is complete BS.
Obama is connected slightly to the citizen of the year that was responsible for helping 1000s of low income children and that is all.
Now Palin on the other hand is DIRECTLY connected in just the past few months to a REAL TERRORIST group called the Alaska Independence Party.
The “first Dude” Todd Palin was a very active member until a few years ago and Sarah Palin has spoken at their meetings several times the last time being earlier THIS YEAR!
Not only is she DIRECTLY connected to these lunatics but SHE AGREES WITH THEM!
