Perdue Chooses Harbor For Outreach Post From Press Release

Governor-elect Bev Perdue today announced that she is appointing Donice Harbor as the Director of the Office of Citizen and Faith Outreach. She will oversee public outreach to constituent groups and the faith-based community. As a senior staff member, she will serve as the H.U.B. liaison to government agencies, and ensure there is a diverse pool of applicants for boards and commissions.

“Donice Harbor has been an invaluable member of my team for the past eight years. She brings both experience and ability to the governor’s office,” said Perdue. “Donice will play a key role in making sure that my administration is open and accessible to all North Carolinians.”

For the previous eight years, Harbor has served as the Director of Public Liaison with Bev Perdue in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. She was responsible for building coalitions with constituents and organizations across the state. She represented the Lieutenant Governor’s office at meetings, forums, and conferences. She established and maintained relationships with community groups and leaders across North Carolina. Prior to her work at the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, Harbor served as research assistant and legislative liaison to Senator Jeanne Lucas.

Harbor holds a M.P.A from North Carolina Central University and a B.A. in Political Science and Public Administration from Fayetteville State University.

“I’ve had the privilege of serving Bev Perdue throughout both her terms as Lieutenant Governor, and during her historic campaign for governor,” said Harbor. “I look forward to helping Governor-elect Perdue move North Carolina ahead in the coming years.”
