This is ridiculous! Here we are trying to set up a democratic political system in Iraq and one of the first public demonstrations against it is slammed by a tremendous penalty for something that hurt nothing! The only thing this three year prison sentence is going to do is deter any kind of public outcry. After all, we are supposed to be promoting democracy and doesn’t that also include a persons right to oppose government. In my mind, this is a step in the wrong direction for Iraq and the ideals of free speech that come hand in hand with democracy. Great start!

The Shoe-Thrower should be hoisted up on the shoulders of the masses and paraded through the streets of Washington DC as the hero that he is. 3 years for throwing a shoe? Well, I guess Bush accomplished the creation of a mini Bush Kingdom where people are thrown in jail for speaking out against atrocities against mankind… George W’s forte. Given enough time to drive the U.S. into the ground, I’m sure Mr Bush would have brought our great nation to resemble the current Iraqi “Democracy”.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fantasized about throwing a shoe at George Bush… I envy that kooky Iraqi! 3 years is a bargain in exchange for the opportunity… I hope he gets a movie deal.
